The Kin's Domain is presented inAnastasia (book 1) and the Ringing Cedars Series
(presently 9 books) written by Vladimir Megre. The series of books presents a unique perspective on history, society, family, education, spirituality and man’s relationship to nature. It presents some unique solutions to problems that are present throughout the world. Well worth reading. A Kin's Domain essentially means family home, though has far more to it than just being a home. The difference between the Kin's Domain and the current “family home” is that the land the Kin's Domain is based upon would have to be sufficiently large to sustain most food, water and building materials for the family living upon it in perpetuity, generation after generation after generation. The recommended size is at minimum one hectare (2.47 acres) . A Kin's Domain can stand alone, or be part of a Kin's Domain settlement or village. Each village consists of multiple 1 hectare or larger plots owned by each family or domain settler. Why one hectare? Because this is a sufficient minimum amount of land sizeable enough to sustain the basic life-long and multi-generational needs of each family or domain settler. This is an amount of land that can be stewarded sustainability by the efforts of an individual or family, without becoming too difficult to manage and that can be managed without the need for heavy industrial agricultural machinery or harmful chemicals and fertilizers or pesticides and without the need for reliance on declining fossils fuels. On a Kin's Domain each plot is created with the specific goal of being a self sufficient area that can support all the basic human needs of the owner including life-long food production, shelter and water supply. Each domain is designed with the specific intent of surrounding the home by a supportive natural Eco-system that will additionally support the domain owner by providing the cleaner air created by oxygen producing plant life, creation of forest land for the optional use of timber for seasonal home heating needs etc and a wide variety of other plant life with a focus on edible perennials as well as plants that can be grown for medicinal purposes. Ideally a Kin's Domain would be free from taxes and owned outright, with hereditary title in perpetuity, the Kin's Domain being passed on to the next of kin. A Kin's Domain would have some or all of the following features
People plant their garden and build their home according to their heart’s desire, in the way they find most pleasing. Although it would take quite an amount of work to establish, as well as many years (in some cases) for the plant and animal systems within the domain to reach equilibrium, it is possible when done well. To build and create their own Kin's Domain empowers people to feel and use their creative capacity again - it re-connects them to nature. The work you do to your own land - the land of your family is most enjoyable. It is meaningful - and you know and feel how much the land appreciates your love and care. It is not like you spend your live forces for anyone else's dream (eg. the company you work for, the boss you have ... ) you spend it to your very own Space of Love. You co-create with your family - dream and work together. Sharing the bliss of seeds sprouting in your garden, the happiness of your first harvest - the gratitude and love for this place, the earth that nourishes you so generous. This flooding of silent joy in your heart, when you watch your children play in the garden, the space of love you created. This is the end of separation and the start of connection. - What a beautiful and nourishing thought.
A Kin's Domain is not about spending all day working the land for your next feed, or spending hours grinding grain so you can bake tomorrow’s loaf of bread. It’s about creating a self sustaining system that provides all you need. It’s about working with nature, so that nature will work for you.
Kin's Domains are presented in practice by hundreds of Families around the world. The most of them are located in Russia. Russian Dachniks and proportion of the land
In the ‘Ringing Cedars” Dachniks are spoken of. Dachniks loosely equate to a summerhouse. Russian’s were given a plot of land after the division of the Soviet Union as a solution to food shortages. Many Russians work in the city, but cultivate fruits and vegetables on the weekends. Presently the Dachniks produce over half of Russia’s vegetables and about 90% of their potatoes. The lands were mostly marginal lands and are less then the size of a quarter acre block.
The proportions of land usage in the Kin's Domain design provides an ideal for sustainable development. About one third (one Quarter to a half) is to be planted as forest for wood. This can also have fruit and nut trees as week as vines, herbs, berries etc planted among it. Partly this acts as animal habitat and partly provides wood for future generations building materials. The area can also provide some grazing for farm animals such as goats, sheep, cattle etc which can be used for milk or wool. About 1-4% is used for dams, as well as for water supply, it can be planted with edible aquatic plants, have fish and crustaceans etc. A large proportion of the remaining area is devoted to the intentional food forest area and the production of grains. Near the house would be a vegetable garden. Of course both the vegetables and grains could and should be grown within the food forest areas. Bee hives can be placed anywhere within the wood forest, or other areas. The essential thing is to let yourself be inspired with free and creative thought when planting your garden of Eden, and to let yourself be guided by your intuition, passion and the feelings of love and joy. Working on the basis that some areas of land are more productive than others (due to climate, rainfall and soil quality), some areas may require excess of 2 hectares per family, whilst others may require less than half a hectare per family.
Other terms for Kin's Domain are: Space of Love, Family Homestead in the meaning of Anastasia, Familienlandsitz
